I think, in fact, am sure, you misunderstand me. I WANT a long work unit, but just one. I have set already 1 CPU.

I have re-enabled the project on both my machines, which have both completed wu's from here in the past. I saw the new work and assumed it would download some as normal, but, as yet, I have not recived any units.

I have not yet received a "long" work unit on either of my machines.

Question about the new long work units that are coming, I have set my preferences to use 1 CPU. What I want, is one work unit. What I don't want is eight work units crunching for days in one CPU each. Is this correct, if not, how do I acheive what I want?

Maybe you do, but I find it very odd that none of the other projects on here are having any issues with VBox. I had set no new tasks, and will now remove the project from this machines portfolio, I had not added it to any others.

Good luck.

The work unit with 4.5 days of crunching aborted. I have deleted the others here and am leaving.

Look at the elapsed time and the CPU time values, as I have said before, there is something seriously wrong here.

... and this morning, it has just 2 seconds left to run... elapsed is 4.12.00.01.

I've set no new tasks and have suspended the other work units you have sent. There is something wrong here. Looking at my task manager, I cannot see it using any CPU, but can see that I only have six BOINC tasks running. I have suspended the task. I want to KNOW if the damn thing is actually acheiiving anything. As soon as I suspended it, other BOINC tasks started running, and my CPU became 100% busy again.

...and at bedtime tonight the work unit is still going, with 6 seconds left... it has just passed 4 days elapsed CPU time now 99.998% done!

>>> computation time estimations are crazy sometimes

They sure are! When I went to bed last night, the work unit I was watching had just over a minute left to run, but that was dropping VERY slowly. This morning, it had 18 seconds left to run, and now, perhaps six hours later, it shows 15 seconds remaining. Still, it is running, and there is loads of time before the deadline. I'm glad it is a 4GHz i7 though.

The failing tasks have, until today, failed after less than a minute, but today, I have had two work units that failed after several hours of crunching.

I have not had a reply from Will yet, but he may simply be away. I'll hold that matter open.

The failing tasks fail very quickly, I hope there is something in the error log there that helps. Feel free to ask if there is something I can do to help, and there are lots of us.

That one failed after less than a minute. It has failed on every machine that it has been sent too. The end status is a helpful:

Exit status 0 (0x00000000)

Perhaps interesting, not all machines it has been sent to have exited in the same way. One is "Error while computing" this one has an "Intel_mt", those showing "Validate error" have "vbox_t1".

Other work units have run to completion, returned and validated. I will leave the project enabled on this machine for the time being at least, as it does not seem to be wasting too much crunching time.

Generally, the site address, (to enable people to add the project), appears on the first page, so people don't have to look for it.

I'm still checking the boincstats inclusion procedure, there has been no reply to my request yet, early days though.
