Hello everyone,
I see I am not alone.
All mly CPU (i7-2600K, I7-3830K, Ryzen9-3900X) has virtualzation capacity and enabled.
It works on all PRJ.
I can also manually install a separate VM on all my hosts.
Only this PRJ says : no VM .
Who (what) is is wrong ???

Have you read this thread and followed all the necessary steps on how to reset the p_vm_extensions_disabled tag in the client_state.xml file ?

Native linux is better and more stable !

So, no long for Windows.
I need a linux machine :-P

If you have a Windows machine you can have a linux machine !
It is very easy to have them dual boot and you choose which you want.
If you want to make it even simpler just get a cheap/small SSD and put linux on that, it doesn't take a lot of disk space.

The badges displayed on a user's home page, statistics and this forum are currently shown out of order when you get a 10M or 20M badge.
In my experience badges are displayed on these pages according to their order in the badge table so if you have time, perhaps a spare 15 minutes, you could change the order please ?

All errors so far they don't seem to run very long ...

You want to get yourself one of these...

https://quchempedia.univ-angers.fr/athome/workunit.php?wuid=1101056

I assume it is a validation problem again but I've let it run as it is for testing and I just got given a new shiny badge for testing :)

I have 42 wus pending for validation, but server status says that there are only 2 pending validation...

Have you checked to see if they are still waiting for another computer to complete the WU ?
These tasks are minimum quorum 2 now.

You are getting this error:

Error Code: ERR_CPU_VM_EXTENSIONS_DISABLED

You need to reset the p_vm_extensions_disabled tag in the client_state.xml file, see this post on how to do that...

If it is using CPU time then just leave it to run, the deadlines are not very accurate.

If the CPU time, shown in task properties, is not increasing then I would suggest aborting it.

Project is listed on the stats sites, for example https://stats.free-dc.org/users/quc

If you want to appear on the stats sites you need to put a tick in the box under project preferences here for:

Do you consent to exporting your data to BOINC statistics aggregation Web sites?

Once you've done that and a another stats export is made and collected by the stats sites you'll appear.

BOINC says it found app_config.xml file

2019-10-21 12:55:55 PM | QuChemPedIA@home | Found app_config.xml

however Boinc still DL 8 Work Units at a time :(
Yes, it will download work units for the number of threads but it did only run one at a time.

still errors :(
Yes :(

From your Windows Features screen dump I see there are also items lower down in the list :

Virtual Machine Platform
Windows Hypervisor Platform

I don't know what they are for and whether one or both of these need to be disabled as well.
Disabling the second one, Windows Hypervisor Platform, is what I would try first but I don't have a system to try it on and no idea what it might do to yours. You would have to go through the steps to reset the <p_vm_extensions_disabled> flag again.

Just a note on your byron VM, it lists Hyper-V Paravirtualization under System properties. I don't know if it should be listed there or not but if Hyper-V has been turned off on the machine why would it be there ?

I think you need someone running the same version of Windows 10 Pro who has made the project work explain what they did or what settings they have.

If you can't find an app_config.xml file you will need to create one (with text editor) here...

this PC -> ProgramData -> BOINC -> projects -> quchempedia.univ-angers.fr_athome

You don't need to disable HT.

You don't mention if you checked if Hyper-V was running and if you disabled it and rebooted before getting more work ?

Do some housekeeping first...
Stop Boinc
Remove all those Inaccessible VMs from VirtualBox Manager (right-click each one and choose Remove, Delete all files)
Create, or edit an app_config.xml to only allow 1 task from QuChemPedia to run at a time,

Basic example, goes in the QuChemPedia folder under Projects:
<app_config>
<project_max_concurrent>1</project_max_concurrent>
</app_config>

Change the <p_vm_extensions_disabled> tag again, should be set to 0 (zero)
Check if Hyper-V is enabled, if it is then disable it.
Reboot your computer.
Let Boinc download some more work, report back !

There must be others who have Windows Pro and have QuChemPedia successfully run tasks to comment on this ?

I did a Google search, how do I disable Hyper-V manager in Windows 10
https://www.isunshare.com/blog/how-to-disable-or-turn-off-hyper-v-in-windows-10-four-options/
but I don't want to mess around with that just yet,
I'll wait a couple of days to see if anyone else posts, with ideas in this thread,
<Edit> to change the title of this thread to: Error while computing with windows 10

thanks, everyone who posted in this thread.

I've tried option 1, but it crashed Windows and went into recovery mode. Repeated attempt ended the same way. Seems like this is not the way. Now not keen on trying the other options. Anybody else?

Out of interest, did it crash Windows before or after rebooting having changed the Hyper-V setting ?

I think you need to disable Hyper-V manager in Windows 10.
I won't use Windows 10 so can't confirm that or give accurate steps on how to disable it.
If you, or someone else, can sort out how to do that and then change the p_vm_extensions_disabled tag to 0 again you might be good to go !

Edit: think you must reboot after disabling Hyper-V (and resetting tag).

Follow these steps in order:
1. Turn on VT-X in your BIOS
2. Reboot
3. Detach from QuChemPedIA
4. Attach to QuChemPedIA

That should fix it.
You don't need to do 3 and 4.
You do need to reset the p_vm_extensions_disabled tag in the client_state.xml file.

Stop BOINC from running.
In your BOINC top level directory you will find a file called client_state.xml.
Open this file with a simple editor (eg Notepad on Windows) and look for this line:

<p_vm_extensions_disabled>1</p_vm_extensions_disabled>

You need to change the 1 to a 0 (zero)
This line is usually absent from the file unless you have tried to run VBox tasks without having enabled the Virtualisation (VT-X in Windows) beforehand.

So line should look like this after you've changed it:

<p_vm_extensions_disabled>0</p_vm_extensions_disabled>

Save the file.

The file needs to be in plain text so using a fancy editor that leaves formatting characters will mess it up.

Restart BOINC and get more tasks, they should then work.

Guessing you granted credit for every single trickle that was sent up by each user for all past tasks ?

Definitely something goofy going on ;)
