I just upgraded the 3900x to a 3950x.
Expensive, but worth it!
In the process, I found that the bios needs to have xmp enabled, for the memory to overclock properly to the rated setting. (Yes you read that).
When I was still fiddling with PCs, CPUs, ram, soundcards, a memory's rated speed would be printed on the ram.
And if your system didn't run that speed, it meant either the Mobo or CPU didn't support the speed.

Nowadays, they all run at 2133Mhz. All of them. If they printed 3200 on them, it means the system needs to overclock it to 3200Mhz.
Weird.

Anyway, this was my reason for glitches. Both 3900 and 3950 now work with 3200Mhz ram speed.

XMp is enabled and I have 256 GBs of RAM

Does your Mobo and cpu support that much RAM?
Some are limited to 128GB.

Yes, supports and other projects are using it.

I give up on this project. I have no issues with any other Boinc project, but this one all jobs error out immediatly. No file is created and no logs. I am not sure what is going on but I will dedicate my CPU/GPU time to projects that my machine will run.

Download it, manually disconnect from the internet. Run the work unit. If it errors out, go look in the folder and see if it's there. Copy it and paste it somewhere, then reconnect and post the result here. I believe the slots empty as soon as boinc manager reconnects to the site so you want to do it before it reports.

I downloaded a new job, disconnected internet, ran job, job errored but none of the files requested were created.......

I will do this tonight, and post the result.

no this file is located in shared directory that is in the slot directory. example :
/var/lib/boinc-client/slots/1/shared

full example :
benoit@damotaf:~$ sudo ls /var/lib/boinc-client/slots/1/shared
 000764309.xyz input.tar.gz nwchem_cp OPT.b OPT.c OPT.drv.hess OPT.movecs OPT.out OPT-restart.nw pub.pem TD_singlet.nw
 FREQ.nw NWChem NWChem.tar.gz 'OPT.b^-1' OPT.db OPT.gridpts.0 OPT.nw OPT.p parameter.json run.sh

I looked in all my slots folders and none of them have these files. This is the only project I am having issues with so it is not a permission issue. I can try to run a single job when I get home to see if I can get them but I have been hesitant to pull any more work since everything is erroring out.

I am at work but can do this tonight when I get home. Is that file located in the project folder?

Thanks,

Buckeye you are running the AIO correct? Go to your boinc folder, look for the slots folder, open that and find one of the OPT.out files

Z

Yes, do I need to do anything special to get AIO to work for this project?

My slots folder is in a different location but none of the folders have the file(Opt.out) requested in it.
