Why do so many (or any) QCP WUs run at high priority with 2 weeks to go before their deadline???

We do not set any priority.

But yes, when a client asks for new tasks, he has a 2 weeks deadline. We can't afford to handle too many pending tasks. We also need to be able to drain the queues in a reasonable amount of time. We think 2 weeks is a good compromise.

If by "running high priority" you mean the BOINC Manager shows it that way, you have more tasks in your cache than can be reasonably completed by your CPU within their deadlines. The closest deadline task(s) will be run "high priority" until your cache is more reasonable. To keep this from happening, simply store less work on your PC - set your "store at least x days work" and "store up to an additional x days work" values in the preferences to lower values.

If by "running high priority" you mean that some task manager is showing it running above "idle" CPU priority, welcome to the nightmare that is Virtual Box.

No, it has nothing to do with how many are in my queue or I wouldn't have asked. I suspect it has to do with the estimate BOINC Manager makes for Estimated Remaining. It's not a problem, they run fine, just curious.
