You need to use the latest version of the certificate, as Dave Anderson provided.

It works for me in Win10. I can now attach to QuChemPedIA and download again.

Great! I can about make it through the abstract. I thought you had something coming by the end of the year, as was hoping we were doing enough crunching for you.

Let us have more, and keep up the good work. I hope someone is helping the software tools to evolve in the process.

They are working fine on Linux. It is a Windows certificate problem.

It worked for me with Ubuntu 20.04.3 and BOINC 7.16.11 on one machine.
On another machine it did not work on that OS until I upgraded BOINC to 7.16.17.

Some combinations work on some machines and others don't.

On my Ryzen 3700X, I tried upgrading BOINC from 7.6.11 (from Ubuntu Software) to 7.6.17 (from Locutus-of-Borg).
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc

Surprisingly, it worked. I am now running normally again.

YMMV.

There is something strange about that upgrade. It is causing problems for me on QuChemPedIA also on two machines, a Ryzen 3900X and the i7-9700.

I have run several other projects on it without problem. At present, it is on TN-Grid, where it has been running the same on the new kernel as before.

As for LHC, that was my post. It turned out not to be the Linux kernel, but the BOINC version.
I posted on it here.
https://quchempedia.univ-angers.fr/athome/forum_thread.php?id=114&postid=1389#1389

That problem was due to using BOINC from the Locutus of Borg repository, and isn't the problem here, since I no longer use that one.
But there could be some other incompatibility of BOINC with something new in the libraries. That is possible.

But it isn't just a question of the OS version.
I completed a work unit normally on an i9-10900F running Ubuntu 20.04.3 with the 5.11.0 kernel.
https://quchempedia.univ-angers.fr/athome/result.php?resultid=7650634

It ran the full time, and was inconclusive, but all the others who tried it thus far have produced validate errors with short run times. (They were all Intel CPU's too.)
So the CPU type may be another factor that is also important for success now, or maybe something else.

It could be the kernel version, as Tullio said...
Yes, certainly. Then it would be between 5.4 and 5.10. Maybe someone can narrow it further. That would help the project find it.

All the tasks have "invalid" as output, and all of them last no more than 1s of CPU time.

Now I am seeing the same thing. I just added a new machine, a Ryzen 3700X on Ubuntu 20.04.3 that I just updated to all the latest stuff.
https://quchempedia.univ-angers.fr/athome/results.php?hostid=8719&offset=0&show_names=0&state=5&appid=

And the last seven refuse to run at all. I will reboot, but try another project until this one is fixed.
It may be something to do with the libraries, but that is beyond me.

BYE
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND RESOURCES.
AFTER BEING AWAY FROM THIS PROJECT FOR SOME TIME I SEE THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED.
THE VALIDATE ERROR ISSUES CONTINUE THAT HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE THE PROJECT STARTED.

I take it you have not studied science or math very much. Many types of problems have unpredictable results, and you don't know beforehand whether they even converge to a real solution or not.
It depends on the starting conditions. But if you choose starting conditions that always "work" (that is run to completion successfully), you aren't finding out much that is new.

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I've noticed that most of the Linux hosts that are faster than my Windows 10 PC using Virtual Box have a small number of processors, while those with a high number of processors are often slower.
Are they running the single-core work units? The difference is because the smaller ones (e.g., four cores) use full cores. That is what the gamers like to support their GPUs.
The larger ones (8 or more) are usually the virtual cores, that is twice the full cores. They are slower per core, but you get more output due to having more cores.

Just don't use BOINC 7.16.4. But you have 7.16.6 that should work...

I should have said that 7.16.14 doesn't work. Neither does 7.16.16.
The Locutus of Borg repository does not have the correct libraries with 7.16.14 and thereafter apparently.

But yes, 7.16.6 should work (both of my machines use it), and so should 7.16.11 for that matter.
So you need to rely on whatever your distribution provides you by default, since they package it up correctly it seems.
At least it installs correctly for Ubuntu by just using "sudo apt install boinc".

I have been finding out by trial and error what works best for validations. I have mainly Ryzen 3000's, so that is what I started with, and Ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04. But I got a valid to invalid rate of only about 1 to 1 (equal numbers). I noticed that the wingmen who did better were running Intel, so I switched over to an i7-9700. That worked better, but I have also noticed that Ubuntu 20.04 does better than 18.04, so I upgraded (it is probably just because there are more 20.04 machines out there, and their libraries or kernels or whatever match better).

At any rate, I am now getting 3 to 1 valid to invalid, and hope to get it to a 10 to 1 rate on the i7-9700, which seems to be what some others get.

A fairly common reason for the failures is that they are running BOINC 7.16.14 or 7.16.16.
They have not been reading the forum:

Am I correct?

If I might suggest an alternative, there is a discussion on Universe on installing Ubuntu on Windows 10, using Hyper-V.
Start at message 4569 by rsNeutrino. I have not tried it myself.
https://universeathome.pl/universe/forum_thread.php?id=551

But I did try WSL (Windows Subsystem for LInux) on Windows 10 (Pro), and it worked well on CPDN.
The problem was managing it, since you have only a command-line interface with WSL, not a GUI.
https://www.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=9025

In any case, you will see a lot of invalids and "validation inconclusive" on QuChemPedIA.
That is just the way the science is. But you should not get only errors if it is set up right.
