1) Message boards : Number crunching : Tasks incorrectly marked as invalid: Please check validation rules (Message 800)

I explained this a lot to the different project participants at the beginning of the project. You can't know in advance if the calculation will converge and how long it will take. The consequence is unpredictable calculation times and invalid tasks when the chemistry doesn't work. This is how we explore the frontier between combinatorial chemistry and what is theoretically possible and stable. Scientifically, the invalid tasks are very important because they will allow us to train models (Artificial Intelligence) which will allow us in the future to predict the validity or not of the molecules studied with a good precision we hope. At the moment, we are already using these data and the results are encouraging.

If our machines are calculating the tasks properly, then they should be given credits for those tasks.

Looking at my results, Valid (2346) ยท Invalid (2091). Almost half of my computing contributions are going to waste here, with regard to credits.

Edit: Perhaps a solution is to roughly double the credits, so that the valid tasks pay for the invalid tasks?

I see there is a "Beta Contributor" badge. I see that there are a couple apps labeled "beta test". I have completed validated tasks against at least one of those apps, but I don't have the badge yet. I am guessing that you need to have a minimum amount of credit against those apps to get the badge. What exactly are the requirements for that badge? Thanks!
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Very little CPU usage (Message 69)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the native app other than the assigning of core/thread affinity. Take that out of the executable so machines can use all threads and you have a winner. Like Michael, I've been running it with a affinity script and it works quite well.

Yes please! Let's do that.

vbox now allows VM to run inside VM.

Yep. Nanohub has the same problem.

Curious behaviour... At the moment, I have no idea.

Energy saving configuration ? Boinc client that decides to switch tasks ?

Nope. These are dedicated crunchers running 24/7. And there are no other projects to switch to.

For what it's worth, I already had both of those set as you suggest. For example, I went to sleep with a 28 core machine (HT turned off), and no other CPU projects running. When I woke up six hours later, I had only 6 tasks running, and 52 tasks stalled. This is a serious problem, IMO.

Edit: If task interruption is really a cause of this problem, then the situation is doubly bad. Because the only way to fix the stalled tasks is to quit/restart BOINC, which then interrupts the tasks that were still running. But I don't think either task interruption is really the cause. There are many other vbox projects out there that do not have this issue.

On my windows machines, I am getting many tasks stuck in the "VM job unmanageable" state. It requires quitting/restarting BOINC to get them un-stuck. This with the latest versions of BOINC and vbox. This is with 0.07 version of the application. I notice there is a new 0.08 version. Does this new version fix the issue?

Edit: I also found a task in the same state on one of my Macs. So the problem is not limited to Windows.

Do these tasks checkpoint? Both vbox and native?
