Posted 14 Nov 2020 by Tullio Post: I have noticed the same thing when running also LHC@home tasks alongside QuChem tasks on my Windows 10 PC with 6 processors. Usually it runs two QUChem tasks, the others waiting for memory. So I think it is a memory problem, I have 12 GB RAM on that PC. Maybe I should try running QuChem tasks on another PC which has 24 GB RAM but it is dedicated to running WCG and Rosetta@home tasks on Sars-CoVid'-2. Tullio |

Posted 29 Sep 2020 by Tullio Post: I have installed a Linux Virtual Machine with SuSE Tumbleweed, a development version, on a Windows 10 PC with plenty of RAM and it is runninh nwchem. But, since I enlisted it in Science United, I cannot choose the projects its runs, this is done by Science United. But I see it running nwchem by the "top" command. Not to start the Windows vs Linux war, but when a tasks is completed and validated on my Windows 10 PC using VirtualBox it is typically faster than a Linux companion even this has a faster CPU than my Intel i5. You can check my completed tasks and verify this. Tullio. |

Posted 24 Sep 2020 by Tullio Post: I have 38 validation inconclusive tasks on my Windows 10 PC using VirtualBox. Most of the wingmen are Linux hosts running only a few seconds.I am an old Linux user and am running Linux tasks on a laptop with an AMD E-450 = CPU. They take long time but do not fail. I am also running a Linux Virtual Machine on a Windows 10 host with 24 GB RAM, 8 of them assigned to the Virtual machine. No failure so far.It is enlisted in Science United, so I do not get its credits. Tullio |
