I had problems in Einstein@home when I used a GTX !060 Video board with 3 GB RAM. They scolded me and I had to buy another PC with a GTX 1650 which has 4 GB Video RAM. But QuChem does not use the GPU , so I can run Einstein GPU tasks along QuChem tasks.

I have noticed the same thing when running also LHC@home tasks alongside QuChem tasks on my Windows 10 PC with 6 processors. Usually it runs two QUChem tasks, the others waiting for memory. So I think it is a memory problem, I have 12 GB RAM on that PC. Maybe I should try running QuChem tasks on another PC which has 24 GB RAM but it is dedicated to running WCG and Rosetta@home tasks on Sars-CoVid'-2.

I have been using Virtual Box since 2010 on CERN programs, even when using Linux, since CERN uses a Scientfic Linux with CERN Libraries that are not in most Linux distributions. Now I am older and use Windows also.

Got 6 MWChem long tasks. Three completed and validated giving me 5000 credits each, one ended in Computing errror, one Validated error and I cut short one because it was going for a too long time.My PC is a Windows 10 PC with Intel i5 9400F CPU and 12 GMB RAM.

I have installed a Linux Virtual Machine with SuSE Tumbleweed, a development version, on a Windows 10 PC with plenty of RAM and it is runninh nwchem. But, since I enlisted it in Science United, I cannot choose the projects its runs, this is done by Science United. But I see it running nwchem by the "top" command. Not to start the Windows vs Linux war, but when a tasks is completed and validated on my Windows 10 PC using VirtualBox it is typically faster than a Linux companion even this has a faster CPU than my Intel i5. You can check my completed tasks and verify this.

On a Linux Virtual Machine running SuSE Tumbleweed enlisted in Science United during a kernel upgrade virtualization was not enabled and all tasks failed. A following kernel update reenabled virtualization. My kernel today is 5.8.10-1.

The kernel of the Linux SuSE Tumbleweed is now 5.8.10-1, being updated very frequently, so I have to reboot each time It is now running nwchem, which was sent to it by Science United. It is the only system I have left in Science United.

Tullio, That might be me if they're from the last 2 days. I have a 44t computer dying, probably the motherboard. I saw it was throwing off 100% Computation Errors within seconds. It's offline now.

Yes, they are very recent. I now have 40 inconclusive validation tasks..

I have 38 validation inconclusive tasks on my Windows 10 PC using VirtualBox. Most of the wingmen are Linux hosts running only a few seconds.I am an old Linux user and am running Linux tasks on a laptop with an AMD E-450 = CPU. They take long time but do not fail. I am also running a Linux Virtual Machine on a Windows 10 host with 24 GB RAM, 8 of them assigned to the Virtual machine. No failure so far.It is enlisted in Science United, so I do not get its credits.

I have completed 11 tasks on a Ryzen 5 1400 CPU running OpenSUSE Linux Tumbleweed, which is a development version with kernel 5.8.7-1. But since that Linux box, which is a Virtual machine on a Windows 10 PC, is enlisted in Science United all its credits will go to Science United, which is managed by David Anderson, the BOINC Director.

I have installed VirtualBox 6.1.14 and have completed several tasks, only one is unmanageable but I know how to resolve this problem by killing and restarting the BOINC manager. But all uploads are frozen. Why?
